Mrs Bradman: warm, friendly; older than Ruth.

Madame Arcati: a striking woman; she has been approached by Charles to conduct a séance as research for his latest book. Age? she’s knocked about a bit.

Elvira: the spirit of Charles’ first wife. Sophisticated, quite angry at times. Older than Ruth.

Edith: a young maid in her first job – this comedic role is also important for plot
