As the Greek goddess Hebe approaches her coming of age, where she will be
anointed as a deity and have her divine domain revealed to her, the only thing she
wants is for both of her brothers to be there. Unfortunately, Hephestus and Ares
haven’t been able to be in the same room without descending into violence since
before she was born, but with the reluctant help of her half-brother Dionysus and
Aunt Hestia, she plans to accomplish a feat worthy of Heracles; sit the warring
brothers together to work out their issues.
But unbeknownst to her, Hebe has been kept in the dark about the history of
violence and abuse that defined her brother's childhood. As she dives deeper into the cause of their feud, the realisation that her parents were not always the loving
people that she knew starts to work away at her hope for a happy family reunion.
A re-telling of the myth of Hephestus intercut with real-world stories of abuse
survivors, this play tells the story of people surviving violent upbringings.
