 A funny and heartwarming comedy set at the iconic Royal Ascot in the year it was held in York.  

 Follow the rollercoaster story of four women from Hull, as they swap their factory overalls for fancy hats and attempt to attend the horse race – and end up on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and the enduring strength of friendship, placing their bets on life, love, and each other.

CAST LIST

Female characters:

 Pearl – mid-50s:  Pearl is kind and generous;  slightly better off than the others.

 

Jan – mid-40s:  a single mum with a university-bound daughter.

 

Shelley – mid-20s: a single girl on the look out for a millionaire boyfriend.

 

Linda:  mid-20s:  quiet and thoughtful – the opposite to Shelley!

 

Male characters:

The casting suggests one male actor;  however, there are six male characters , so it is possible to cast more than one male actor for the following smaller roles.

 

Joe – 40-60 years old:  supervisor

 

Fred – any age;  ticket tout

 

Jim McCormack – no specific age;  a TV pundit

 

Patrick – 35-45 years;  Irish jockey

 

Kevin – no specified age;  a gambler

 

Barry – around 60 years;  bookie
